Community Wellness & Safety Day Set for Saturday, May 8
Event to benefit Chris Reyka (Former BSO Sergeant) Foundation


Pompano Citi Centre is proud to be hosting Broward County's first Community Wellness Day celebration on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Community Wellness Day is a national event focusing on educating the members of our community on very important information which is critical to the total wellness for our residents. We will be sharing an array of information on health, safety, environmental and financial wellness. This event will be taking place in many cities nationwide during a 4 week period of spring of 2010. Over thirty wellness exhibitors will be on hand to provide valuable information on health and fitness.

"Pompano Citi Centre is honored to have been chosen for the site of Community Wellness Day," said Julie Katz, director of marketing for Pompano Citi Centre. "It is the property's mission to work with our community in anyway possible. We plan on making this an annual event."

Our political leaders will be recognizing this as an important day in our community to empower people to take back responsibility for there families well being. The local law enforcement will be on hand to provide important ID information for children, families and seniors. The local fire department will be providing fire prevention and safety information. Various community agencies will be participating and sharing their programs on car seat safety, bicycle safety, internet safety, identity fraud protection, financial literacy info, health screenings, drug/ alcohol awareness information, senior services information, and much more. There will be information available for all ages of our community.

Community Wellness Day has chosen the Chris Reyka Foundation as the beneficiary of our event. The Chris Reyka Foundation is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of families of fallen officers who have a genuine need for support and assistance, as well as educating the community concerning the constant sacrifices law enforcement officers make with their very lives. On August 10, 2007 Broward Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Reyka was shot and killed by assailants who have yet to be brought to justice. Officer Reyka is truly one of our fallen heroes.
